A quick look at the new Pyranha Burn III Small at PaddleExpo 2014. We are really excited about this new boat and the potential it will bring out in young up-and-coming paddlers and smaller kayakers.

My statistics: I am 10 years old, I weigh 94 pounds and I am 59 inches tall.
The reason it is so great: The Burn is super easy to boof. It is small and I find it easy to control on creeks and rivers. I feel that I can go thru big and small holes with out getting stuck in them; I just put my boat on edge and go.
Pyranha has taken the ideas and concepts from the Burn and Burn II and improved on the design, producing a boat that can perform well in all conditions, from big water to steep creeks. It's also a boat that can take beginner and intermediate paddlers to the next level with confidence. Unlike Superman III, Back to the Future III, and Aliens III, Pyranha's Burn III is certainly worth the price of admission.
The Burn III tracks straight and is easy to manage in all types of water. It is responsive when tested on low volume creeks, but navigates big water with ease. The four sizes available means that there is a boat that fits everybody, including those that normally find themselves in between the available size offerings. The sharp edges allows this boat to feel smaller than it is, making being on the low side of the weight recommendations enjoyable.
The ancestors of the Burn were tough creekers, the new one has been given the genes of a river runner. The bow and hull have been further developed. Additional length, clearer edges, more rocker in the bow and little volume adjustment. To the eyes, there are no big changes, but on whitewater you feel the difference. The Burn sits fantastically flush and steady in the water, giving safety and stability at once. There is hardly another kayak in this size class that is faster on a wave. The revised Connect outfitting is top class! The Burn III has aluminium handles, the seat is easy to adjust and tailor. Foam allows you to adjust the seat angle and height.
Summary: Less creeker, more river runner and as comfortable as always. One for almost everyone and everything!
The Burn 3 does a great job of following on from, and pushing forwards, the legacy of its predecessors. Its balance of versatility and performance sets a very high standard that will offer a huge amount to a broad range of whitewater paddlers. We loved the fact that it gives you a desire to push, due to the deadly accuracy and control that it supplies, which only enhances a really tangible sense of confidence when in the cockpit.
Testing it with a paddler weighing 15Kg above the recommended minimum (medium size) we wouldn't want to be any closer to the lower limit. The ability to get some weight over the redesigned edges will allow paddlers to really make the most of them. All in all we were blown away with the sense of control in the Burn 3, which got us considering where it would be best used. In conclusion, we agreed that it would be as much a solid choice for big water expeditions as it would be the tight technical creeks, and on easier runs it'll divert your attention to stringing lines together in smooth succession. Hot stuff indeed!
The Burn 3 is the latest river runner to come out the Pyranha factory and it's safe to say I feel it doesn't disappoint. The Burn three has been long in the pipe line after the successful Burn two and the guys at Pyranha were extremely keen to make a similar jump in performance to the last upgrade.
