The Annual Scottish Canoe show in Perth, Scotland bought the ideal opportunity for me to hook up and boat with Scottish local paddler Cam Allan for a couple of days. It also gave Cam chance to put the medium sized Ammo through its paces.
The weekend started with a bang. On CamÂ’s Advice I hooked up with Cheez and the rest of the Palm / Dagger guys to go run a swollen Braan, before setting up for the show.

The two day show was an informal event, having time to speak to every one who called by the stand and to catch up with old friends. We showcased the new RecoilÂ’s and AmmoÂ’s which went down a treat!

The next two days were treated to two days of classic Scottish paddling and weather, the first day saw us getting runs of the Upper Garry – CamsÂ’s amazing [ahem – extreme grade II] first descent and then followed by a good high water level run down the Pattack. After a quick stop off for tea and bacon sandwiches, we whizzed over to the Fort Bill, where we were met by typical Scottish weather – torrential rain and high winds. A slight detour to go and inspect the Nevis proved how quickly these mountain rivers come up, and was well up its banks and proved a little to full to contemplate getting on.

We took shelter from the Scottish weather at the Clacaid Inn, and arrange to meet up with Rob Coffey, Rosie Cripps, Simon Westgarth and Dave Carroll.

The next day still showed swollen rivers, so we went exploring in the Etive valley, attempting one of the lesser run Upper Etive tributaries, which proved to be a slide down wet rocks. So we headed for a very high middle Etive and accompanying TributaryÂ…
