Speed Trip to BC

On my first trip to BC I learned one thing.  10 days is not enough.  There are more rivers in BC than I could possibly paddle in a lifetime.  I had a great crew of people to paddle with, great water, and a ton of fun.

I flew from New York to Portland, got in my buddy Chris’s truck and we were rolling.  We hit up the Green Truss and Cispus on our way north.  Once in BC we got on the Cheakamus, Callahan, Green, and Birkenhead rivers.  On the way back to Portland we finished up the trip with a low water run of Tumwater Canyon on the Wenatchee.  It was a lot of paddling in just ten days.

Highlights of the trip were defenitely the Birkenhead and Callahan rivers.  Both of them were abslolutely classic runs, and I managed to do both for the first time at pretty stout flows.  The off river highlight was a night out in Whistler ( I can’t imagine what that place is like in the winter).    I ran into Leland and Andrea up there.  They seem to be having an unbelievable summer.  I’m not going to go into too much detail in this report, because I’m sure when they get back they will be able to do a much better job of telling you about BC than I can.  I’m already thinking about when I can go back.
