The crowds from Worlds are gone, the summer crowdes are here yet, and the Ottawa is at a great level
The Ottawa has been dropping since the end of Worlds, and It’s pretty much down to summer play levels. I’ve been lucky enough to be here to surf Corner Wave and Right-side Horseshoe with short lines and beautiful weather. Here are couple of pictures:
I also got the chance to run the Upper Petawawa in the Ammo. I keep hearing people ask what the Ammo is for, and quite frankly, it was the perfect boat for the Upper Pet. To start off, there’s about an hour long hike in, so the light weight of the Ammo and short length made it a breeze to “backpack” in- much more so that a full on creekboat. The drops on the Pet weren’t real hard, generally had a big water feel to them, and there was a little bit of play, but nothing great- so a creekboat would have been overkill, but paddling a playboat would have been pointless. On top of that, it was a lot of fun to launch huge loops when I took it out to Right-side, but that’s another story…
