Here are some pictures from the team at the first event of the first ever World Cup of freestyle kayaking, held at Garberator on the Ottawa river.
Despite paddling injured, Jared Seiler threw some big moves for the crowd and finished 42nd
In the C-1 class, I took 6th place, missing the finals by one place. Considering that last year at the Ottawa rodeo, I missed the wave all three times in C-1, I’m pretty stoked with my finish.

I also got the honor of going first in the first heat of Men’s K-1. I guess that makes me the first Men’s kayaker to ever compete in a World cup. Unfortunately, I couldn’t hold the first spot and ended up 33rd.

Matt Hamilton showed us that this IS his home wave with some massive Pan-ams, and finished 21st.
While Pyranha doesn’t make squirtboats, it should be noted that the team had a strong showing in the squirt event as well, with Val Bertrand winning the women’s event (and also Canadian team trials), while I took 4th in the men’s squirt, and the event was won by Pyranha product engineer Ben White, who snuck out of factory to come to the Ottawa. Now that we’ve tracked him down, we’re sending him back to the UK to build us some Ammos.
Off to the Black..
