The morning will be the first day of our road trip taking us North out of Lhasa, capital of the Tibet region, to run some classic multidays and then on to the Yarlung Tsangpo Valley. The Yarlung is likely to be very high as the monsoon waters drop but most of the North & South tribs of the valley are still undiscovered and have the promise of some amazing creeking. We are hoping to also make a stop off at Everest Base Camp and paddle in its shadow, before driving over the mountains back into Nepal.
We have been in Lhasa for 4 days now. The first 2 we managed to get out on to some local rivers as we were itching to get on the water. With the height above sea level being well over 3500m, we were feeling extremely tired after this so slept for most of the next day and today I have been experiencing the massive cultural differences with visits to the Polata, the historical home to the Dalai Lama and the Jokhang, the religious center that was busy with activity.
Keep an eye out for more images on the way home!
